The definition is something like: courage, resolve, bravery, mettle, backbone, spirit, strength of character, strength of will, moral fiber, steel, nerve, fortitude, toughness, hardiness, determination, tenacity, perseverance, endurance. We think of it as that spirit inside you that triggers your willingness to get back up, to do that extra pushup when the body says you're done.
